Job Readiness Skills with Company One

We are working in collaboration with Company One to use theatre techniques to build professional communication skills among our students. Students work with a teaching artist during their DMOL period for six sessions. The program is aimed at improving students' communication, negotiation, and self-advocacy skills.

This collaboration is possible through the BPS Arts Expansion grant given by EdVestors.

R&D Fellowship with the Rennie Center for Education and Research

BATA is working with the Rennie Center to develop school-level assessment metrics for alternative schools. The goal is to develop and pilot the rubric at BATA and scale it up to all alternative schools in the district.

Racial Equity Seed Fund with EdVestors

BATA has been awarded the RESF grant to conduct research on a problem of practice that it is seeing within its school aimed specifically at its academic and literacy outcomes. BATA's Problem of Practice is aimed at answering the following question:

We want to provide an avenue for students to give feedback around what is and is not working for them academically so far. Knowing our communities’ strengths, aspirations, and challenges, how do we address this challenge so that we can incorporate the voices of students and families in determining how the school implements its instructional focus areas to suit the learning needs of every student?

    Math Learning Communities with EdVestors

BATA has been awarded the Math Learning Communities (MLC) grant by EdVestors. MLCs are professional learning communities built on a strong foundation of commitment to continuous learning and learning in community. MLCs will be designed by school teams as a sustainable and supportive space to address a problem of practice in math education. BATA's math team will be working closely in conjunction with EdVestors and peer schools to strengthen the math curriculum.

    Career Pathways Grant

BATA has been awarded the Career Pathways Grant by EdVestors to strengthen and scale its Community Health Worker Pathway program and make it sustainable. We are working in collaboration with the district's Career and Technical Education department for the same.
