  • As the Superintendent conducts the Community Engagement Tour and meets with BPS families and community members, several recurring themes about the community’s hopes for BPS have surfaced:

    Academics & Student Support

    • Strengthen programming such as Advanced Work Class and Excellence for All
    • Increase student safety measures
    • Strengthen mental and social-emotional health support
    • Strengthen coursework and accelerate student academic growth

    Equity, Opportunity and Access for Students

    • Increase academic rigor in all schools
    • Ensure more thoughtful and equitable placement of programs and academic offerings

    Family, Student and Community Engagement

    • Develop more accessible supports for undocumented families
    • Increase transparency

    Operational Effectiveness

    • Improve transportation system
    • Enhance facilities including playgrounds
    • Create assignment pathways for early learning and early education centers           

    Staff and Program Diversity & Inclusion

    • Increase linguistic and racial staff diversity in schools and the central office
    • Implement more special education inclusion programming
