Here’s one way to look at the teacher rubric elements.  The lower tiers represent foundational teacher competencies, skills and knowledge that any educator needs to be minimally proficient in to ensure a functional learning environment.  The upper tiers focus on aspects of instruction and practice that require sustained reflection, collaboration, and continuous improvement.  This pyramid is a representation, an imperfect one that doesn't capture all the nuances of the teaching craft.  However, it may also be a useful one in helping you think through the interrelatedness of different aspects of teaching and in narrowing your focus for growth.
