• NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY @ C.A.S.H.

The National Honor Society (NHS) at C.A.S.H. is a vibrant, prestigious organization that students have to be invited to join. Four main purposes have guided chapters of NHS from the beginning: to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. These purposes also translate into the criteria used for membership selection in each local chapter.

Every chapter has different qualifications for membership based on the four pillars of National Honor Society: NHS character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Chapters are required to publish their selection procedures, so ask your local chapter adviser or principal for a copy.

Per the NHS National Constitution, all chapters' eligibility requirements must include, at minimum:

    • attending school in grades 10 through 12
    • maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 85 percent, B, 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), or equivalent standard of excellence
    • demonstrating volunteer or service hours
    • preserving an excellent record of behavior in and out of school
    • participating in leadership roles in school and/or community activities.

In addition to maintaining the standards that earned you your membership, as an NHS member you'll attend chapter meetings, perform service projects that benefit your school and communities, and fulfill any other responsibilities as required by your local chapter's bylaws. Bylaws can be obtained through your NHS adviser.
